Churches

Upper Franconia boasts almost 200 churches built in the style of the margrave period. Usually, hidden behind a simple exterior, you will find an unexpected treasure trove of impressive rooms, lovingly designed, in some cases with exquisite works of art. Every church has its own special feature and history.

You will find almost 60 churches open to visitors outside of service times on our website. Using the map, or with a single click on the picture you will get to the individual churches. The pictures give a foretaste and encourage you to come and see it all for yourself. In addition you will also see a great deal of information around the church in question, such as a brief description, opening times, and links to the church community etc. Places of interest and tours offer rewarding visits all around the church. You can find the churches in a nutshell in this leatflet. Many of the churches have a calendar of events giving a summary of what’s going on in  the church community.
